Broome Residential College – Stage 2
In late 2014 Broome Residential College was successful in obtaining Royalties for Region funding to increase our student accommodation from the current 72 beds to 116 beds and provide more extensive student facilities.
We are please to announce that this process has begun with an end completion date due late July 2016.
In negotiation with the Country High Schools Hostel Authority and the Department of Finance (Building, Maintenance and Works) an architect has been engaged. Engawa Architects is a Broome based company who worked on the initial BRC build in 2007/08 and have a wonderful understanding of local conditions and our student co-hort.
We are currently in the concept and schematic design stage. Forward works to start July to make the most of “The Dry’ season.
As we progress through this exciting project we will keep all parents and the like updated via school newsletters which can be found under our news tab.
Healthy Eating at our Boarding College
Students living at our Boarding College are able to receive all of their daily food and drink intake from our facility. It is so important that our students have access to healthy food on a regular basis to promote healthy growth, to maintain a healthy weight and to prevent the development of chronic diseases. Our meal plans are checked by Dieticians and approved by Canteen Association of WA.
One way that we try and encourage our students to eat a healthy balance diet is by bright coloured signs that are found throughout our dining hall which show healthy alternatives and portion control. Health workers from BRAMS also give our students yearly talks on ways they can improve their diet and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
An example of what food you can expect to eat at our College can be found below.Weekly Meal Plan (54kb)
